Omaggio a Roma (A Tribute to Rome)


A couple of years ago the director Franco Zeffirelli produced a 20 minute film entitled Omaggio a Roma, which means A Tribute to Rome.   It features stunning photograpy of Rome and, as an added bonus, Andrea Bocelli singing.  Among the sites you'll see are:
  • Tiber Island (in the still shot above)
  • Trevi Fountain
  • Bernini's Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers, in Piazza Navona)
  • St. Peter's Basilica
  • Detail from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel
  • Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio and Cordonata
  • Sculptures from the Capitoline Museums
  • Colosseum
  • Castel Sant'Angelo (the setting for the final act of Tosca)
  • Bernini sculptures from the Galleria Borghese
  • Il Vittoriano, the monument to King Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy, the first king of unified Italy
  • Pantheon
